The 13th edition of The Transat, to be known as The Artemis Transat will start 11th May, 2008 from Sutton Harbour, Plymouth (UK), and finish in Boston, USA.
Created in 1960 by Sir Francis Chichester and Blondie Hasler, and often known until 2004 as the OSTAR, the oldest solo race in history has created many legends over the last four decades – Eric Tabarly, Alain Colas, Mike Birch, Philippe Poupon, Loick Peyron, Francis Joyon, Michel Desjoyeaux, and Ellen MacArthur amongst them
Sutton Harbour, Plymouth (UK) will host the start and be the venue for the bustling Race Village open free to the public from the 3rd-11th May which will include a two-storey VIP hospitality marquee, overlooking the race fleet, a 150ft three masted Tall Ship, live music from the Barbican Jazz and Blues Festival, street theatre and other major attractions for everyone to enjoy.
