Event South West is looking to build long term relationships with both the public and private sectors to secure and deliver a world class events strategy for the south west region. We will bring together the aspirations of the region's major cities, counties and private sector commercial business's to develop an events portfolio that showcases the region and delivers strong economic, business and media return on investment (ROI)
The Artemis Transat is the sixth largest sailing event in the world. It is the oldest and most prestigious single-handed transatlantic yacht race and in 2004 delivered €13.6m of international media coverage. In 2008, the race will see over 35 teams from over 10 nationalities arrive in Plymouth for ten consecutive days bringing an estimated economic return to the city of over €3.0m
The partnership model is simple and effective. Event South West negotiated both the public and private sector funding to secure the event for the region which allowed the event owners, OC Events to guarantee to hold the event in Plymouth. We are looking to drive similar partnerships with ambitious Cities in the region to develop an enviable portfolio of events that deliver tourism, economic and regional benefits to our partners
